When thinking about dog training, think of your dog as a remote that has to be programmed in order for it to work properly. The animal and the device are fully capable of producing the desired results, yet something more is needed to take advantage of those functions. Having a set schedule will teach your dog how to wait until he can go outside for the next potty break.

In addition to regular walks and canine training sessions, you should make time to let your dog exercise for at least one hour every day. When your dog gets enough exercise, training sessions are usually more effective and produce faster results. A dog is happy when it gets it exercise and a happy dog follows orders.
Every puppy in training will make some mistakes in the potty department. It’s important to immediately clean up the accident to make your training more effective. Animals are inclined to eliminate repeatedly in spots where they can smell urine or feces, and carpets require special care. Many cleaning products are made just to eliminate this order, you can find them at any pet store.
Train a puppy to accept a leash by playing with the puppy while it wears its collar. It is important that your pup gets used to wearing the collar so that it can use a leash correctly and so that it has proper ID tags in case it gets lost.
Praise your dog often when training him. Talk in a positive voice, smile and offer your dog some treats when it does something right. Just be sure you never reward your dog after a bad behavior.
